The problem

Retinopathy of Prematurity puts about 50,000 infants at risk of blindness every year. Screening needs pediatric ophthalmologists, who are scarce. NICUs face weekly exam bottlenecks, and staging is subjective between clinicians.

The project

NeoVuo is a deep-learning solution that automatically screens and stages ROP and detects Plus Disease from fundus images, aligned with Egypt's National AI Strategy, Egypt Vision 2030 and UN SDG 3. I worked as a back-end developer in an 8-person team of ML, computer vision, data and UX specialists.

• Explains the clinical problem, the 4-step workflow (upload, AI pre-processing, staging analysis, clinical report) and real-world uses: tele-ophthalmology, NICU integration and emergency triage.
• Public awareness survey and research demo access requests with email handling.
• Team, supervision and FAQ sections written for parents as well as clinicians.
